United Arab Emirates – Sea of Oil
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is located in the eastern Arabian
Peninsula. Covering an area of 83,600 square kilometers, it has a
population of 4.04 million, one-fifth of whom are Arabs, with the
rest Pakistanis, Indians, and others. Residents are Muslim. Arabic
is the official language, and English is also spoken. The currency
is the dirham. Abu Dhabi (Abu Dhabi) is the capital.
National Flag
The flag of the United Arab Emirates is red, green, white, and black
in color; there is a red vertical rectangle on the flagpole side.
The right side of the flag, from the top down, is green, black, and
red. The red symbolizes the ancestral warbler bird, green symbolizes
pastures, the white symbolizes success, and black is a symbol of
fighting.
History
In the 7th century AD, the UAE was part of the Arab Empire. In the
early 16th century, the Portuguese invaded, followed by the arrival
of British, Dutch, and French settlers. In the 18th century, the
Bani Yas tribe controlled the country, including Abu Dhabi, Dubai,
Sharjah and Kawaximu tribal control. After the British invasion in
1820, the country gradually became a British protectorate. On March
1, 1971, the British announced that a treaty would be signed with
the Persian Gulf country at the end of the year. In the same year,
in December, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, and
the Fujairah Emirate proclaimed six unified United Arab Emirates. In
February 1972, Nahayima angle Emirates formally joined the union.
Economic and Cultural Customs
The United Arab Emirates are rich in oil. The economy is dominated
by oil production and the petrochemical industry. There is also a
handicraft weaving industry, mainly employing women.
Camel racing is a traditional sport. Eagle hunting is also
popular, so people spare no expense to buy a ferocious falcon for
domestication. Men of the UAE wear white gowns, a headscarf, and a
black headband. Women wear long black robes that may cover dyed red
toenail polish on their feet. Fond of wearing gold jewelry, they
also decorate hands and feet with black makeup.
Given the country's humid climate, most people do not like to
wear leather shoes. Combined with the tradition of not allowing
shoes on the carpet or rug, some people prefer sandals.
Abu Dhabi
The United Arab Emirates' capital of Abu Dhabi is a popular tourist
city. The urban green area comprises 640 hectares, one of the
world's largest parks. One of the cleanest cities in the world, it
is said to bethe "Garden of the Middle East." The waterfront park
has a large fountain, and the pool has an Arab-style water bottle
and seven large copper cups. The kettle pours the water into the
seven copper cups, a symbol of the UAE's political system, in which
seven emirates share the prosperity of the State.
