Monday and Tuesday (the Monday and Tuesday preceding Ash
Wednesday) are not official public holidays, but almost all
businesses are closed. In 2004 they will fall on Monday,
February 23 and Tuesday, February 24, respectively. The
Hindu and Muslim festivals of Diwali and Eid-ul-Fitr,
respectively, are public holidays in Trinidad and Tobago.
Where the public holiday is a religious observance, the date
is selected in accordance with the particular religious
calendar. When a public holiday falls on a Sunday, the
holiday will be celebrated o the Monday following
immediately. When two holidays fall on the same day, the
next day is also considered a holiday. |
