Tajikistan - long-staple cotton country
Tajikistan is located in southeastern Central Asia and is also known
as the Republic of Tajikistan. Covering an area of 143,100 square
kilometers, the country has a population of 6.57 million, 70.5% of
whom are Tajiks, with the rest Uzbeks, Russians, and so on.
Residents are Muslim. Tajik is the official language, but Russian is
also spoken. The currency is the Somoni. Dushanbe (dushanbe) is the
capital.

National Flag

The flag of Tajikistan consists of three rectangels, red, white,
green from the top down, with a crown in the middle of the white
part along with seven five-pointed stars.
History
From the 9th to 10th century AD, the Samanide Tajik dynasty had been
established, and Tajik customs were essentially formed during this
period. In the 13th century, Mongolian Tatars conquered Tajikstan.
In the 14th and 15th century, the rulers of the country were
descendants of Timur. In the 16th century, the country joined the
Khanate of Bukhara. In 1868, northern Fergana and Samarkand were
absorbed into Russia. By the end of 1918, Soviet power had been
established. In October 1924, the Tajik Autonomous Soviet Socialist
Republic was established, an Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic. In
1929, the Tajik Soviet Socialist Republic became a republic of the
Soviet Union. By the end of August 1991, it was renamed the Republic
of Tajikistan, and declared independence on September 9. In
December, Tajikstan joined the CIS.
Economic and Cultural Customs
A mountainous territory, 93% of land area is covered by mountains,
including about 50% of land area covered by mountains taller than
3,000 meters above sea level. Pamir and Tianshan are some of the
world-famous peaks here, praised as the "country of mountains.".
Arable land accounts for only 7% of the total land area. The main
agricultural product is cotton, said to be the "long-staple cotton
country." Cereals cultivated are wheat, barley, maize, and rice.
Lemons, persimmons, red pomegranates, and wine are known in Central
Asia. Livestock include horses, cattle, and mainly sheep. Industries
include mining, light industry, and food industry. The famous Nurek
is Central Asia's largest hydropower station.
Tajiks have manners and hospitality, with simple courtesy, and
are kind and respectful. Tajiks are good at singing and dancing,
dancing bold and strong with a vigorous mix of soaring action. Tajik
sports include horse racing, Diaoyang, and others.
