Slovenia
Slovenia is located in central and southern Europe, all known as
the Republic of Slovenia. An area of 20300 square km. About two
million man-days, mainly Slovene. Residents are Catholic. The
official language is Slovenian. Currency of the SIT. The capital
Ljubljana.

National Flag

From top to bottom, the flag has three parallel white, blue and
red rectangles and around the flagpole is a painted emblem.
History
At the end of the eighth century, the Slavs migrated to the area
now called Slovenia. In 869–874 on the Panno plains, an independent
state of Slovenia was established. From the ninth to the early 20th
century, Slovenia was a German state and under the rule of the
Austro-Hungarian Empire. By the end of 1918, Slovenia together with
Serbia and Croatia was renamed the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. In 1941,
German and Italian fascists invaded Yugoslavia. In 1945, the
population of Yugoslavia defeated the fascists and in the same year
on November 29 was proclaimed the Federal People's Republic of
Yugoslavia (renamed the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in
1963), of which Slovenia was one of the states. On June 25, 1991,
the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia announced that it had
become an independent sovereign state.
Economic and Cultural Customs
The Slovenian economy is developing fast. It has an advanced
power industry as well as electronics, machinery, food and other
industries. Agricultural products include potatoes, cereals and
fruit. Forestry and animal husbandry is also important.
Lake Bled
Situated in the Alps, the lake has an area of 1.45 square
kilometers. Three sides of the lake are flat, and on one side stand
green mountains and a typical medieval castle. The lake is
surrounded by lush green forests, and the mirror-like surface of the
lake reflects the peaks of the Alps. In winter, the ice is 48 m
thick and the lake becomes an ideal place for winter sports.
