The Republic of Nicaragua is located in Central America, and covers an area of 1 21,400 square kilometers. It has a population of l,527 million, of whom 69% are Mestizo, with the remaining people primarily white, black, or Indian. Residents are Catholic and the currency is the Cordoba. National Flag

Nicaragua’s flag contains three horizontal strips of blue and white, with the colors taken from the original Central American Federation flag, which also symbolizes this country's location between the Pacific and the Caribbean. The Nicaragua national emblem is in the center.

History

Upon Columbus’ arrival in 1502, the land was already occupied by indigenous people. In 1524 the country was colonized by Spain, and it wasn’t until September 15, 1821, that independence was declared. In 1825 Nicaragua joined the Central American Federation, becoming a republic in 1859. With the support of the United States support, the Somoza family ruled as dictators from 1936. After over 40 years, their regime was finally overthrown in July 1979.

Economy and Cultural Customs

Nicaragua’s landscape is covered in volcanoes and lakes, and as such is known as country of lakes and volcanoes.
The country produces cotton, coffee, sugar cane, bananas, and meat, and Nicaragua is one of Latin America’s main producer of gold. It is also rich in geothermal resources, as well as fish and other aquatic products, and its forest area accounts for 45% of exports, primarily pine and mahogany.
Nicaragua still maintains the traditional practice of nature worship, endowing/ various natural phenomena with mystical significance. Every volcano and beautiful lake has its own legend.

Lake Nicaragua
Also known as the Great Lake, Lake Nicaragua is the largest lake in Central America. The indigenous inhabitants called it Cocibolca Lake, and it is located in southwestern Nicaragua, separated from the Pacific Ocean and Lake by a 19 kilometer isthmus. The lake contains more than 300 islands, the largest of which is Ehud Olmert Dong Island. Waterfowl gather at the lake, which is also rich in fish. the sun on the size of the turtle rock group of the lake is also a scene.
