Libya - Desert Country
Libya in northern Africa, all known as the Great Socialist
People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya. "Libya" derives from the Greek,
meaning "white place of residence." Area of 1.76 million square
kilometers. Population of 5.48 million, mainly Arabs, followed by
the Berbers. Residents are Muslim. Arabic is the national language.
Currency dinar. Tripoli (Tarabulus).

National Flag

The flag is a green rectangle. Green is the color of Islam and
signifies love. To the Libyan people green is the color of victory.
History
In the fifth century BC, a unified Kingdom of Numidia was
established. In the 16th century, the Ottoman Empire controlled the
coastal areas. In October 1912, it became known as the Italian
colony of Libya. Early in 1945, France and Britain occupied the
north. On December 24, 1951, Libya was declared independent. On
September 1, 1969, Gaddafi's "free officers organization" staged a
coup to overthrow the Idris dynasty and establish the Libyan Arab
Republic. In March 1977, the country became called the Socialist
People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya.
Economic and Cultural Customs
With rich oil reserves, oil production is the main pillar of its
economy. Central Sabha is one of the world's most arid regions and
only in the north is there a narrow green belt for agricultural
production. Agricultural products are wheat, olive oil and fruit.
Livestock is sheep and camels.
Great Artificial River
Although Libya is rich in oil resources, the total land area as
desert more than 95% of the oil change the water once a sea water
