Ireland - Emerald State
Ireland is located in northwestern Europe, the island of Ireland,
an area of 70,300 square thousand years. Population of 3.98 million,
mostly Irish. 94% of the population is Roman Catholic. The official
language is English and the Irish down. Currency is the euro. Dublin
(Dublin).

National Flag

From left to right, the Irish flag has three equal vertical
stripes of green, white and orange. Green represents the Irish
Catholic population, orange represents the Protestant population and
white is the symbol of hope that a permanent truce between Catholics
and Protestants can be achieved.
History
In 452 AD, St. Patrick spread Christianity and Roman culture to
Ireland. In 1169, there was the British invasion. In 1541, the
British king became king of Ireland. In 1916, a blast in Dublin
issued the Anti-British "Easter Rising." On December 6, 1921, the
British were forced to allow the southern 28 states to set up a
"Free State", with the northern six counties still vested in the
United Kingdom. In 1957, this "Free State" became a republic, but
remained in the Commonwealth. On December 21, 1948, it exited the
Commonwealth. On April 18, 1949, the British recognized its
independence, but refused to return the northern six states.
Geography
Ireland has many central plains, lakes and swamps, with an
average elevation of 100 m. The north, northwest and south of the
country has plateaus and mountains. The marine climate is of
temperate broadleaf forest. The coldest average monthly temperature
is 3.2C and the hottest average monthly temperature is only 16.2C,
with an annual precipitation of 750~1,000 mm. Meadows and pastures
account for about 80% of the total land area.
Economic and Cultural Customs
Ireland is a traditional agricultural country. Animal husbandry
dominates the economy, mainly cattle, sheep, swine and poultry, with
only a small amount of wheat, oat, potato and sugar beet planting.
Its industry is mainly tourism, electronics, telecommunications,
chemicals, little medicine, machinery manufacturing, food processing
and cigarettes.
The Irish like to drink whiskey, but also distill high quality
Irish whiskey made from potatoes. Ireland is regarded as the home of
whiskey. Men's traditional clothing is short skirts called "guilds."
Irish folk musical instruments are the bagpipes, which are played
using two or more synthetic pipes and the reed pressure from the arm
of a leather pocket to create wind and thereby a vibration.
Because the law prohibits divorce and remarriage, Irish people
treat marriage very cautiously and late marriage is widespread.
Irish women are smart and capable and are good at financial
management. The Irish like horseracing, with a week-long horseracing
meet held in August every year. Irish bloodstock has a fine global
reputation.
Jilaerni Lake
This is Ireland's famous scenic spot and tourist center. Located
in the southwest, it is formed by the middle and lower of three
lakes and is surrounded by trees and lush mountains. The smallest on
the Lake, 174 hectares of forests around the shade. On the east
coast are limestone caves. dissolution of limestone cave is the
second canine teeth staggered and shapes, strange Shilin Li,
charming. There are eight island lakes. A two-mile long channel
connects the two lakes. In the lake area, there is around 275
hectares and inside there are four small islands. A channel connects
Lean Lake, which is the northernmost and largest (2,024 ha) lake
with more than 30 different sized green islands. Ross Island has
preserved the remains of ancient castles.
Irish Dance
This is a type of tap dance mainly wearing black street shoes and
using of flexible wooden dancefloor. This dance has a variety of
rhythms and is a very free form. Ireland more than half of tap dance
to keep the upper body still. The three top Irish dance pieces are "Riverdance,"
"King of Dance" and "Dance of the Rhyme." Riverdance is an epic
large-scale dance drama. It is the treasure of world dance and the
pride of the Irish nation. Using traditional Irish tap dance
characteristics, it combines Spanish flamenco dance, classical
ballet and modern dance to be the world's undisputed national styles
of dance.
